Heuristic Evaluation
Heuristic Evaluation was used to identify usability problems so that it can be addressed in the next iteration of the UI design.
Usability was measured based on Jakob Nielsen's 10 Heuristics.
A severity level from 1-4 was established to identify the most serious problem in order to allocate resources, time and effort to address it.
Competitive Analysis
Competitive Analysis was done as part of the initial research to identify the competition and understand their current practices, strengths and weaknesses.
This would help identify MediLinker's key differentiators that would make it stand out from its competition and improvement areas as well. The competition was divided into 4 levels.
Kano Model
The insights from the Competition Analysis was presented to the client as a Kano Model. Kano Model was used as it provides a plan by prioritizing features depending on user satisfaction and the current level of its implementation.
The Kano Model analysis is categorized as:
Must-Haves: These are features that users expect to see, and therefore, the design must have
Performance: Also known as 'Satisfiers', these features can increase user satisfaction. The more 'performance/satisfier' features, the better.
Delighters: Also known as 'Excitement', these features that users don't expect to see (unavailable from competition) which can influence the users' level of satisfaction.
App Redesign
Upon considering the recommendations from the Competitive Analysis and Heuristic Evaluation, the client's design team updated their design as shown below.
